Tribe is working towards improving its Support Independent Living (SIL) module for future growth at Cooranbong and other sites.
Supported independent living is one type of supported accommodation (a home) that helps people with disabilities maintain and increase their independence. It includes help or supervision with daily tasks, like personal care or cooking meals. It helps a person to live as independently as possible, whilst building their skills.
Supported Independent Living is designed for people with higher support needs who require ongoing assistance to live as independently as possible. This could involve a significant amount of help throughout the day, seven days a week, and often includes overnight support to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
The Cooranbong module will operate as a 3-bedroom participant home with sleepover support.
To support the SIL module, Tribe needs to establish a consistent team of workers to support this model. The SIL module for workers will:
Be working on a 4-week rotating roster, shiftwork including sleepovers
Becoming a key worker for one of the participants
Collaboration and active support with the participants in supporting their home
Attending monthly team meetings
Quarterly supervision sessions
The SIL site will be managed by a full-time Team Leader with allocated 2 days per week admin hrs.
The rotating roster for Disability Support Workers will be on a contract basis with allocated hrs. Each worker placed on a contract arrangement will be on a probation period of 3 months.
Questions
